After earning his architecture license in 2021, HMC Architects’ Trevor Wellman aspired to work towards becoming a better-rounded architect. He mentored with current and past HMC employees and decided to strive for three accreditations – CSI CDT, WELL AP, and LEED AP BD+C – in 2022. After passing each exam, Wellman earned CDT, WELL AP, and LEED AP BD+C.
As a project coordinator in HMC’s Ontario studio, Wellman has worked on several large-scale higher education projects including Mt. SAC’s Physical Education Project and San Bernardino Community College’s Automotive Technical Education Building.
“At HMC Architects, we always strive to Design for Good. This includes not only enriching our surrounding communities with new programs and activities but also creating safe and healthy environments for all who visit,” says Trevor. “WELL, LEED, and CDT continued education backgrounds are vital in achieving this level of design and consideration. While the desire to create a more sustainable world is great, we must take action and educate ourselves in how to actually make a difference in the work we do. These certifications are foundations and resources in my career to learn new and alternative ways to achieve this.”
