Folsom Cordova Unified School District’s Mangini Ranch Elementary School was selected for the Structural Engineers Association of Central California (SEAOCC) Award of Excellence in the New Construction category and the People’s Choice Award. Awards were presented at SEAOCC’s June dinner meeting on June 14. Local chapter awardees are automatically submitted to the Structural Engineers Association of California Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards announced later this year.
Designed by RGA + A Studio of HMC Architects and developed simultaneously with the new Folsom Ranch community, the school grounds families new to the area in the history of the region and provide students with a safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment. The flexible and agile learning environments create opportunities for students, teachers, and the school community to develop the collaboration and communication skills required to build relationships and thrive in the global economy. Each classroom opens into shared collaboration spaces, and mobile furnishings and operable partitions encourage flexible learning and teamwork. Greater levels of transparency enhance supervision and allow understanding to be visible and pervasive. The school pays tribute to the city’s history with large wall graphics spanning the entry lobby and classroom wings, connecting local historic images to day-to-day student learning.
Congratulations to our structural engineering partners, Degenkolb Engineers and Folsom Cordova Unified School District. For more information, visit SEAOCC’s website.
